Purpose

Aside from the shameless self-promotion, the SoftwareDevelopment.ca web site is provided as a public service for the advancement of software development practices and professional development amongst its practitioners.

SoftwareDevelopment.ca supports the individual software development practitioner who is often expected to do whatever it takes to get the job done, in circumstances or under conditions that instinctively run contrary to such principles and attitudes as:

• Do it right the first time.
• Lead by example.
• If you're not growing, you're dying.
• Work smarter, not harder. Work to live, don't live to work. Work hard, play harder.
• Keep it simple stupid!

You won't find a grand vision, a mission statement, a list of values, tactical objectives, strategic goals, or plans to mature into a legislated professional body. There already exist [recognized] professional associations better suited to developing industry recognized certification programs, lobbying at the provincial or federal levels of government, organizing conferences, etc.
